Replacement Mounting Hardware for Thule Mountaineer Cargo Box

I have an older Thule Mountaineer cargo box. Is there a u-bolt I can use in replacement of the standard mounting bolts?

I really wish there was, but we've spoke with Thule about this in the past and they've told us that the only hardware you can use is the part # TH04997.
