Proportional Braking System for 2002 Lexus RX 300 Towed Behind 2019 Coachmen Concord 300DS Class C
Question:
Recently I purchased a 2019 Coachmen Concord 300DS and plan to tow a 2002 Lexus RX300 four wheels down. Side note I have a Remco Lube Pump install on the Lexus to allow four wheel down towing. I previously had a US Gear Unified Braking System installed on my Class A coach and my Lexus still has the system installed. I has been difficult finding US Gear motorhome brake parts to install on my new Class C. I want a proportional brake system and would like to know if the Redarc brake system RED44FR is compatible with the Coachmen Concord 300DS? If not, could you recommend a supplemental brake system that is.

The 2019 Coachmen Concord 300DS Class C motorhome is built on either a Chevy 4500 V8 chassis or a Ford E-450 V10 chassis. A trailer brake controller such as the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR can be installed in either base chassis but this type of device is for trailer towing, not dinghy towing of a towed car.
If you are looking for a new supplemental braking system for towing the 2002 Lexus RX300 behind your Class C 300DS we can help you with that too.
Proportional toad braking systems for hydraulic RV brakes like those on the Chevy 4500 chassis can be seen on the linked page. For a portable system you can eventually move to your next towed car, in case that is a possibility, I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. This system does not require an invasive installation and so it is easily paced in the Lexus when you're heading out on the road and also easily removed. It can therefore also stay in service for a long time, moving to your next towed vehicle whenever that occurs.
