The CE Smith Single Axle Trailer Fender - Pre-Galvanized Steel - 14" and 15" Wheels - Qty 1 # CE17900G are designed to be primed and then painted for corrosion resistance. This also gives you the option to match or accent your trailer colors. Some people have chosen to simply use clear coat paint to keep the metal appearance.
For paint, I recommend using an oil-based protective enamel paint like Rust-oleum in the color of your choosing or the clear. This is used over the base primer unless you are using the clear coat. In that case you will want to sand and thoroughly clean the fender prior to painting as there is less for the paint to stick to.
