Recommended Trailer Hitch to Use with Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 on 2018 Ford Escape
Question:
U-Haul square/round tube hitch receiver on 2018 Ford Escape Hello. I am considering the installation of a hitch receiver on my 2018 Ford Escape. Will this hitch be compatible with Item # HR1450Z-FB? Or if I was considering the cheaper option of using a round tube receiver hitch instead, will this still be compatible with the item above? Second question. I plan on carrying a Framed Minnesota 2.2 Fat Bike ~35 lb along with a ~50 lb generic bike on this bike rack. Will it be able to handle the ~50 lb capacity in the slot given that it states that it can only handle roughly 48 lbs? Just need clarification before the buy. Thank you!

We do not currently offer U-Haul branded hitches so I don't have enough information on the particular models that would fit your Ford Escape to provide a sure answer, however based on the hitches we have for your vehicle and the installations we have done with them I do not foresee any compatibility issues between one on your Escape when using the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider # HR1450Z-FB. There should not be any interference between the rear bumper and rack (even when it's folded up against the vehicle) so it's just a matter of making sure the hitch features a 2 inch receiver.
For a hitch we know will work with this rack I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III # 75758 that features a sleek round tube design and plenty of capacity for your loaded bike rack. I have attached an installation video that you can use for reference.
The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Bike Rack # HR1450Z-FB can actually handle 2 bikes that are up to 50 pounds each. As long as your heavier bike is 50 pounds or lighter this rack will work perfectly. This is a really nice carrier that can be tilted away for easy rear cargo access on your Escape and integrated locks to help secure your investments.
I have included a short video demonstration on this bike rack that you can check out as well.
