Does Keyed Power Source Wire Need to Be Connected When Installing Stereo in RV

Question:

The stereo/dvd player wiring harness has a constant 12 volt power wire and a red switched 12v wire for connection ignition/accessory on and off in a dash installation. I am installing the unit in the trailer to a 12 v power source wall plug, and do not need the accessory switched wire. Can I just connect the constant power source and ground wire, and leave the red switched wire open?

You need the switched wire to be connected to a constant power source in your situation otherwise it will not turn on. The keyed power source on stereos is what tells the stereo to turn on when you turn the key on of the vehicle. So you need it to have power basically all the time so that it can turn on and off when needed using the power switch of it instead.
