Wiring and Supplemental Braking System to Flat Tow 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Question:

I have a 2017 Allegro Red to tow a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. I have already purchased the Roadmaster All-terrain Falcon tow bar, and have installed the Demco base plate which I purchased from you folks. I also purchased the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode wiring kit. The etrailer rep I spoke to told me that was all I needed. She was wrong I believe. Is the RM-98146-7 the correct umbilical I need for the tow bar I have purchased? I saw on a etrailer video that I need a straight wire not coiled for the Falcon. Thanks

The Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 is a 4-wire kit that gives you a 4-flat at the front of your 2017 Jeep Wrangler so what you can do is use cut off that 4-way and wire it into the Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Straight Cord Kit # RM-98146-7; you are correct a straight wire is a better option than coiled for an all-terrain tow bar like your Falcon # RM-522.

There are some other parts you will need as well, including Safety Chains # RM-643 if you do not already have those. Additionally, a supplemental braking system is a requirement in most states. The best option for this is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251 OR, if your 2017 Allegro Red has air brakes (which from my understanding it does) you will want to use the SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motor Homes with Air Brakes # SM99243.

Should your Allegro have air brakes, we do strongly recommend using a supplemental braking system designed for motorhomes with air brakes to avoid false braking.

The SMIs are also the best options because they are one-time installs that never require you to activate and deactivate them. They are also proportional systems that give your Jeep the same braking power as your motorhome. I have added links to video reviews as well as video installs of these systems on a Wrangler.
