The "locking" in the Gustafson Locking RV Pendant Light's # 277-000306 title refers to the vertical stem's ability to tighten/lock into place in various positions. This allows you to hang it on a sloped ceiling and still have it hang straight down or simply create a different angle for the light. It also keeps it steady during travel.

There is a wing knob at the top towards the base that you can loosen in order to swing the light from side to side and when you tighten the knob back up it locks it into that position.
