Ideas for Mounting SMI DUO Brake Unit on 2019 Subaru Crosstrek
Question:
Can the control unit for the Stay-Play Duo be installed in the engine area for a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek? I was at the dealer yesterday and inspected engine compartment. It didnt appear to be any room. Also checked under the driver seat only to find some other control box - I think its the heated seat unit.

Expert Reply:
The engine bay for your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek is pretty tight but the module of the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251 that you referenced are 8" long x 5" wide x 2-1/4" tall. Most likely you could fit that around the air box under the hood based on the engine bay pics I found for your vehicle. If this would not also fit under the front seats it's possible it could fit under the rear seats.
