Do the Equalizer Arms Move Independently on the Equa-Flex Equalizers
Question:
Hi, I cant tell this from the review...... do the two ends of the lower silver bracket that has a hole at each end for shackle attachment move independently or is that lower bracket one solid piece? Second question on Lippert LC281285 shackle kit. I have seen some reviews where people say that the bolts are slightly too long. If you have 1.75inch spring width and two std width shackles at .25inch each the bolt would need to have a usable length of approx. 2.25. Usable length being from the inside edge of head to shoulder where threads start on the bolt. Is that what they measure? Thanks much!

The two arms that attach to the shackle bolts of the Equa-Flex Equalizers part # LC279687 do move independently. If you check out the picture I attached you can see the bottom of the equalizer and that the two pieces are not connected. This allows the equalizer to be more cushioned than if it was a single piece.
One thing people get confused on with the shackle bolts is that they need to be torqued down tight. Since they have to allow the suspension to move you actually don't want a super tight fit. Normally you just snug them up and let the locknut prevent the nut from backing off. This keeps the bolt installed properly and then also allows the suspension to move like it needs to. The Equa Flex and the Never Fail # LC281285 were both made by the same company and designed to work with 1-3/4 inch wide springs like you have so they would work well.
