Adapter for SuperGlide 5th Wheel Hitch for 2017 Ford F-450 with Puck System
Question:
I had an 18K Super Glide 5th wheel slider hitch in my 2015 F-250. I purchased a 2017 F-450 with trailer prep package. Is there an adapter that will mount to the new truck so I can use the hitch? Also I went from a 6 1/2 foot bed to an 8 foot bed. So I guess I really dont need the slider but would prefer not to have to purchase a new one.

It may be possible for you to use the Reese Elite Series Underbed Rail Adapter for Standard 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP30156 with your 2017 Ford F-450.
If your 18K PullRite SuperGlide mounted to industry-standard rails (ISR) like what you see in the accompanying photo then there is a solution. You would need to ensure the SuperGlide fit rails that measured 22 inches apart on center from front-to-back and either 29 inches or 20-1/2 inches apart on center from side-to-side. Generally if SuperGlide hitches fit industry-standard rails they have some sort of ISR designation.
Should your SuperGlide not fit ISR's you are correct that you do not need a sliding hitch for your F-450 but would need a new fifth wheel hitch.
Easily the best option for a new hitch is the B&W Companion OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch for Ford Super Duty Prep Package # BWRVK3300 which will fit directly into the puck system of your '17 F-450.
The Companion is considered by many to be the highest-quality fifth wheel hitch available. With around 500 reviews to date from our customers who have purchased it, this hitch has received a nearly unanimous 5-star rating. One of the reasons for that is the jaw system on the Companion; its dual jaws are a full 1" thick to provide a completely secure connection to your king pin. The other reason is that the Companion will ensure you have a smooth, quieter ride compared to other hitches due to that connection along with its polyurethane bushings.
The Companion # BWRVK3300 has a pivoting head to make hooking up easier, a cam-action latch to deter binding, offers three different height settings to ensure you are level with your fifth wheel and has a towing capacity of 20,000 lbs.
I have added a link to video reviews of the rail kit, hitch and wiring harness for you to check out.
