Why are Snow Tire Chains Not Recommended for Certain Size Tires on Ford F-150

Question:

Why is it recommended to not use chains on a F-150 Ford pickup with certain tire sizes? Would it be harmful to the pickup itself or maybe cause us to have an accident?

Normally when an owners manual of a Ford F-150 does not recommend to use snow chains on certain tire sizes it is because of the larger tire sizes. When chains are installed on the larger tire sizes it could cause the snow chains to interfere with parts on the vehicle. Some of the Ford F-150 trucks use a 275/55R20 tire size that could cause clearance problems if used with snow tire chains.

I would recommend to use the information that is printed in your vehicles owners manual regarding the use of snow tire chains or if there are any limitations.
