Does Weight of Blue OX Sway Pro Count As Tongue Weight

Question:

I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma with towing package rated at 6500 lb towing to pull a travel trailer with 4000 lb and 440 lb tongue weights dry - 5200 lb and 600 lb tongue loaded. I am thinking of using the BXW0750. What is the size of the standard 2inch shank the comes with the BXW0750 package? Is it the 7-hole version? What is the total weight of the actual BXW0750 hitch package?

Expert Reply:

The total weight of the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BXW0750 is 87 lbs but in case you were concerned that it would add that weight as tongue weight you should note that the weight of a weight distribution system does not count as tongue weight. Basically the system becomes part of the hitch and it's weight does not need to be factored in.

The shank that comes with this uses the standard weight distribution shank dimensions which allows it and other brands to fit. This shank has 7 holes on it and can do a max rise of 8 inches or a max drop of 2 inches.
