Recommended Towing Mirrors for More Extended View of Trailer with 2017 Ford Expedition

Question:

I bought Fit System 3990 Dual Lens... for my vehicle above, but they dont quite give me the full view of my new 8foot wide, 29ft long trailer when backing up. I am hoping the CIPA door tow mirrors may work better , but want to check fit with you guys first. Another question, totally off the subject of tow mirrors , is about upgrading my Expedition suspension. There seems to be no aftermarket heavier duty suspension options available yet for my 2017 Ford Expedition Limited 4WD. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

The CIPA Deluxe Door Mount Mirror # 11650 referenced in your question will indeed give you a more extended view than with the Fit System mirror you recently purchased.

To see exactly how much further out these mirrors will extend you can take a quick measurement. The Door Mount Mirror can be extended as far as 17 inches from the vehicle when mounted so you can take this measurement out from the bottom of your front door window to see where the mirror will sit. Based on my research your 3990 mirrors extend about 6-1/8 inches from the factory mirrors.

I have attached a short video demonstration on the CIPA mirror that you can check out as well.

As for suspension enhancement for your Ford Expedition you are right that the only option we have available is the SuperSprings # CSS-1168R for the rear axle, which will do a nice job of enhancing your overall ride comfort when towing but may not be the type of heavy-duty option you are looking for.

If you are experiencing a lot of rear sag with your trailer hooked up, a better solution is actually with a weight distribution system. When picking out a system it is important to choose one with a tongue weight capacity range that closely matches the total tongue weight of your setup. The total tongue weight includes both the loaded tongue weight of your trailer along with any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your Expedition.

If you can tell me your trailer's loaded tongue weight I will be happy to make a specific recommendation. In the meantime I have attached a link that will take you to our available selection and an article on the subject that you might find helpful.
