How to Find the PSI Rating of a Trailer Wheel

Question:

I want to purchase these tires for the D load rating and the 81 mph rating. However, my stock Chinese tireson factory alloy wheels have a 45 psi max rating. How do I know if my wheels are safe or rated to 75 psi?

In regards to the psi rating for a wheel/tire combo you would always need to abide by the lowest rated component, the tire, wheel, or valve stem. The tire should list the max psi on the sidewall but in order to find this information on the wheel you would need to look on the inside surface for an etching or sticker. If all else fails you can call the manufacturer. The valve stem will generally exceed that of the wheel.

I recommending replacing both the wheel/tire together with something like the Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire part # AM32161. By the time you paid to have the wheels and tires mounted it would be most likely more cost effective to just purchase the combo.

The above wheel/tire combo is designed to work with a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. If you have a different bolt pattern (see article) then please let me know.
