Does a 2009 Dodge Ram 3500 Need a Sway Control Device While Towing a Forest River R-Pod
Question:
Do I need a sway bar? I have a one ton Dodge Dually and pulling a new RPOD weight approx. 3,000lb, length 204 inch?

It is not exactly possible to calculate whether or not any given trailer is going to have sway issues until you pull the trailer for the first time. There are too many factors involved that affect trailer sway such as how the trailer is loaded and the angle at which it is towed at. However, it is never really going to be a bad idea to install one.
There are two different types of friction sway control devices, ones built into weight distribution systems like the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control part # RP66087 and friction sway control bars like the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit part # 83660. The ones built into weight distribution systems are dual purpose but since weight distribution won't be much of an issue for you, you should be just fine with a friction sway control bar.
