What Wires Need To Be Run on a 2014 Toyota Highlander Using the Curt Echo Brake Controller
Question:
I think I know the answer, but wanted confirmation from the experts: if I am installing the #ETBC7 on a 2014 Toyota Highlander the video is GREAT by the way, but plan on using the Curt Echo #C51180 Bluetooth-enabled brake controller, I can just run the black wire from the 7-way plug and connect it to the included 40amp fuse, then from the fuse to the battery, and thats it, right? No reason to run the rest of the wires through the firewall and the other 30A breaker if there will not be a wired brake controller installed?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Correct, the black 12 volt power wire that goes to the vehicle's battery with a 40 amp circuit breaker placed in between along with the white ground wire are the only two connections you will need to make with the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7 save for the 4-way while using the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 on your 2014 Toyota Highlander. The blue brake output and the purple reverse wires do not need to be run and can just be taped/tied off.
