The three best brake controllers on the market are the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, the Curt Echo, and the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite. They each have their own special feature/design. I have attached them for you below.
The first brake controller I recommend is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195. The Prodigy P3 is our best selling brake controller because of its reliability. It has a lifetime warranty and can easily be transferred from vehicle to vehicle. The major benefits of this brake controller are that it has integrated safeguards to protect your vehicle, trailer, and the controller. It also has a customizable LCD display which is easy to use, more so than most standard brake controllers of its kind.
The second brake controller I recommend is the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180. The Echo is a relatively new brake controller that is gaining a lot of popularity. The reason for this is because it does not require any modifications to the tow vehicle, it just plugs into the 7-way and you use your phone to customize settings and activate the manual override. The other major reason as to the growing popularity of this brake controller is because it uses a device you are already comfortable using (your phone), you do not need to read an entire comprehensive manual and familiarize yourself with the controls and codes to use it. Please note that if your phone loses power the brake controller will still function as normal.
The third brake controller I recommend is the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller part # RED44FR. The Tow-Pro Elite is very similar in design to a factory trailer brake controller. There is a control box that gets installed under the dash, out of sight and then a control knob that gets mounted on your dash wherever you prefer. This will provide a very clean look and will allow you to mount it in many different locations whereas the Prodigy P3 will need to be in a certain position/angle. The other nice feature of this brake controller is that you can switch between proportional and a user-controlled mode which I am not aware of any other brake controller that can.
In summary, the Prodigy P3 is the most reliable, the Echo is the easiest to use/install, and the Tow-Pro Elite offers the best performance. I have attached a review video on each of these options for you as well.
