Roadmaster Base Plate Kit Recommendation for a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

I have 1419-5 tow brackets. I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee and would like to use these, but I looked up numbers and they say to use 1419-8. They look the same shape and holes seem to be the same also. What is different about them?

The biggest difference between the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 1419-5 and the # 1419-8 is the application. The # 1419-5 is designed for the 1999-2000 Jeep Grand Cherokees without a brushguard, whereas the # 1419-8 is designed for the # 1419-8 is designed for the 2001-2003 Jeep Grand Cherokees without a brushguard.

Since the vehicles are so similar the base plate kits will appear to be similar, but the mounting holes and dimensions of the base plate kit will be different enough that you could not use a # 1419-5 on your vehicle. You will want to install a # 1419-8.
