Replacement Hub/Wheel for Old Boat Trailer with Short Spindle

Question:

I have an old boat trailer. The wheels are old and need to be replaced. Currently the tires are 4.80-8. The wheels are center Hubed with 1” bearings, but the hub is only 2 1/2” in length. All the wheels I can find have a hub length over 4”. Any suggestions what wheels I can use?

I would love to help but we do not carry the narrow hubs that you need for your boat trailer spindles nor do we offer any trailer wheels with an integrated hub. These narrow hubs are also becoming harder and harder to find as they have been phased out of the market for quite some time. The best option we can offer you is to switch to a two piece design with a full axle replacement.

For this, we have straight axles like the CE Smith Trailer Axle Beam part # CE33201GA and axle-less systems like the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System part # ASR2000S02. If you can tell me the distance between the spring centers (B) and hub faces (A) on your current axle as well as if it uses brakes or not, I would be glad to make a more precise recommendation for you.
