Differences Between Outboard and Inboard Fifth Wheel Kits

Question:

So I know the difference between the Reese 56001-53 and the 50066-58. One is inside and one outside the frame for mounting. Is one stronger than the other as far as towing capacity and overall strength? Thank you.

Expert Reply:

Outboard and In-board fifth wheel rail kits have the same strength ratings. Basically either kit is as going to be as strong as any fifth wheel hitch that fits the rails. The pros of the outboard kits like # RP56001-53 are an easier install, whereas the pros of an inboard kit like # RP50066-58 is a lower price and smaller rails in the truck bed.
