Replacing 6.00-13 Size Tires on Older Jayco Dove Trailer

Question:

Im looking to replace the tyres on my jayco dove 1988, but the existing tyres on the van are of an old spec. As specified on the tyre wall, see photo attached. Due to the weight of the van 850kg tare weight, I believe the tyres are a light truck tyre. Im made my own measurements and I estimate the following dimensions: Width - 160mm Overall diameter - 640mm Rim diameter - 13 Note - Im located in NSW, Australia, but im hoping the standard around tyre sizes is global or can be translated... Thanks in advance

The 6.00-13 size tires on your 1988 Jayco Dove are definitely an older size that isn't around anymore.

The closest modern size trailer tire we have available is an ST175/80R13 like the excellent Provider # TTWTRTM1758013C. This tire has a section width of 6.97 inches (177mm) and an overall diameter of 24 inches (609mm). These will be a tad smaller in diameter than what you currently have but a bit wider, so you will just want to make sure you have enough trailer frame clearance available.

This radial ply tire will do a much better job safely supporting your trailer's weight than the passenger/light truck tires that were on it before. The tire features a maximum load of 1,360 pounds at 50 psi and an excellent speed rating of 81 mph. As long as your existing 13 inch wheel has a width of 4-1/2 inches, 5 inches, or 5-1/2 inches the new tire will mount to them without a problem.

I have attached a short video demonstration that you can also check out.
