Measuring Lexus GX 470 Roof Rack for Compatibility with Thule Motion XT Rooftop Cargo Box

The Thule Motion XT Rooftop Cargo Box # TH629806 has specific roof rack compatibility dimensions that are shown in the linked diagram. These are easy enough to check yourself.

Each OEM crossbar on the 2007 Lexus GX 470 cannot exceed a maximum size of 3-1/2-inches wide x 1-11/16-inches tall and their center to center spread must be between 23-5/8 and 36-7/8-inches to line up with the mounting hardware. Full hatch opening without interference with the box requires at least 51-1/4-inches from the center of the front bar to the roof/hatch seam. So long as a vehicle meets these criteria the box will fit.

An accessory item I often recommend for rooftop cargo applications is a simply step, like the Telesteps # TE97FR. This low-cost compact lightweight step comes fully assembled and it pops open instantly to give you almost a foot of extra reach when it is time to access your cargo carrier. We also have tire-mounted steps like # HE4040 but these limit you to using the step on the rear tire. The Camco step will be more flexible in use.
