Even though the OEM jounce bumper and the Timbren spring # TGMRYS4 that replaces it are the same length they are made of different material and are designed to do something different.
The OEM jounce bumper serves as a fail-safe to prevent the axle bottoming out on the frame. That is all it is intended to do.
On the other hand, the Timbren kit # TGMRYS4 will do that too, but its main purpose is progressively resisting compression. The OEM spring does not get stiffer as it compresses, but the Timbren spring does. This allows it to stiffen your rear axle suspension and support the load from a trailer's tongue weight.
