Function of Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller If There Are Bluetooth Connectivity Issues

Question:

Based on my experience using bluetooth connecting to trivial things like speakers and headphones, I have serious concerns about connection difficulties, like dropped connections and difficulty finding it. I read that it continues to function even if your phone disconnects, thats something at least. Has anyone done longer trips with this? 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris, Passenger

For your 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris Passenger Van, the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 should work well. It is a fairly new product from Curt and we haven't heard of any issues but we don't have any confirmed distances it has been utilized from any of our customers. I reached out to my contact at Curt and they also don't have a record of distance traveled for their tests. They are very confident in their product and I've attached a review from our local driving test to assist.

As you referenced, if your Bluetooth connection drops the controller still continues to function based on the settings used. The internal sensor for deceleration will continue to offer you proportional braking but you will not have the manual override if the connection drops.

I've attached some videos to assist further.
