Can Sway be Reduced by Adding Additional Sway Control Bar

Question:

I have a 2016 ram 1500 crew 4x4 with stock suspension haulmaster wd hitch pulling a grey wolf 26djse. dry weight as per forest river is 4947 with TW of 570 LB My measurements are good. My front measurements are the same hooked up as unhooked. the rear is 2 inch less hooked up and the trailer coupler is level. I am using a sway bar set tight and I still have Sway on the expressway at 60MPH. My question is. For testing purposes only, can I simulate trailer tongue weight by loading the bed of my truck close to the hitch to minimize sway? I have a bar bell set with over a thousand pounds of weight and it is easier to put in the bed of the truck than to put them inside the trailer.

Adding weight to the rear of your 2016 Ram 1500 will not truly simulate total tongue weight (the tongue weight of your fully loaded trailer plus any weight behind the rear axle of your truck) in regards to sway.

If you are having sway issues with your Haulmark weight distribution system and you already have one sway control bar I recommend adding a second one with the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660. I took a look at a Haulmark weight distribution system and the head unit looks like it is set up to allow a pair of sway control bars.

I have added a link to a video review of this system for you to take a look at as well.
