It sounds like you are wanting to add a brake controller to your 2019 Ram 1500 to power the brakes on your trailer for occasional use.
If this is correct and the trailer you mentioned is equipped with electric brakes the Curt Echo Brake Controller # C51180 is the perfect unit for your application. Installation of the controller consists of simply plugging it into the 7-Way connector on your Ram, downloading the free app, and pairing the unit with your phone via Bluetooth. And that's it!
For somebody like you that doesn't plan on using the brake controller too often this is a great solution because it doesn't require an in-depth installation process and eliminates the need for a separate unit to be permanently mounted in the cab of your truck. Once paired your smart phone becomes the brake controller, on which you can adjust settings and activate the manual override. Simply plug the brake controller into the truck's 7-Way when it's needed and leave it at home when it's not.
It will activate the electric brakes on the trailer at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in the truck. I have attached a short video demonstration that you can also check out.
