Best Bike Rack/Cargo Carrier Option for Used with a 2015 Toyota 4Runner

Question:

Id like to mount a tray style hitch mount rack in the upper receiver with a hitch mount cargo basket in the lower. Is the advisable and, if so, what bike rake will give me the most clearance over the cargo basket? Hitch mount hanging style would be ok too, but rack would need to accommodate mini and junior size bmx racing frames. 2015 4runner.

Your best bet for a bike rack/cargo carrier combination on your 2015 Toyota 4Runner is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 # HR1450Z-85. If you were to use a dual adapter like part # D-192 then your bike rack would sit right above the cargo basket and you would be extremely limited as to what you could carry with your bikes loaded.

Other possible options are carrying either the cargo or your bikes on your roof while carrying the opposite behind your 4Runner but if you don't need to carry more than 2 bikes then the Hollywood Racks option is the best way to go. Not only does it allow you to use the cargo carrier but it also comes with locks for the bikes and rack as well as the ability to carry two 50 lb bikes and 100 lbs of cargo. You can use the expansion # HR1475Z to swap out with the carrier if you ever need to carry 4 bikes.
