Hitch and 4-Bike Rack for 2018 Honda CR-V
Question:
we need a 4 bike rack. 2018 CRV. I know it has to be a hitch rack for 4 bikes. right now we have 2 adult bikes and 2 kid-size bikes but we'll be getting the kids new full-size bikes pretty soon and we'd like to choose the right carrier now so we don't need another one in a year.

For your CR-V I recommend the higher-capacity 2-inch Class III hitch option since a loaded 4-bike rack can be pretty heavy. Draw-Tite hitch # 76128 has a hefty 675-lb tongue weight rating, which is downward force on the hitch, and that is the capacity that matters for using a bike rack.
This hitch bolts on using included hardware; no drilling is needed. Plan on about an hour for the install. Please refer to the linked instructions for a list of the tools you'll need and to the included help article and install video for guidance on bolting it on.
The best long term option for you is going to be a platform style rack like the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4-Bike Platform Rack # HR1400Z. This carrier includes locks for the rack itself and for your four bikes, it has a high 50-lb per bike weight capacity and it folds up when not in use. It will fit well on the rear of your CR-V when folded and will not contact the vehicle at all. A really nice feature is its modular design that allows it to separate into two sections for times when you only need to transport 2 bikes.
I attached a video of this bike rack to help illustrate its features.
