Will Steering Wheel of 2015 MINI Cooper S Turn When Flat Towed

Question:

For flat towing... My 2015 MINI S doesnt stay in a mode to allow the front steering wheels to turn easily. It has a keyless ignition which turns off when engine is not running and therefore has no power assist. The manual states: More Force must be applied when braking and steering.inch Im concerned that the Steering may be unable to track turning when flat towed. Is my concern unrealistic? or... is there a procedure or modification to keep the Steering turning? Thanks.

When flat towing a vehicle power assist is not required to allow the wheels to steer as you go around corners. As long as the steering wheel is unlocked you'll be totally fine. Since you said the wheel will be harder to turn that would indicate that it is unlocked. Typically on keyless ignition vehicles if the steering wheel does lock when the vehicle is off you have to put the ignition in ACC mode which is done by pressing the on button but keeping your foot off of the brake. This puts it in ACC mode without turning the vehicle on.
