What is Speed Rating for Reese Tow Bar # 63180

Why is this rated to only 45 Miles per hour. What are the dangers above 45???

Tow Ready states that the speed rating for the Tow Ready tow bar part # 63180 is 45 mph. If you go faster than that the inertia of the vehicle can compromise the tow bar in the event of an emergency stop or turn. Since most modern vehicles don't have a flat, metal front bumper like what this requires it's not an ideal solution for most applications. The Roadmaster Stowmaster part # RM-501 is somewhat similar and does not have the same speed rating. It will require you to install a Roadmaster base plate kit on your vehicle. The telescoping arms of this tow bar will make it much easier to use than the Reese.
