Will Auxiliary Lights on Tow Vehicle Automatically Light Up When Connected to Reverse Circuit
Question:
if I connect a pair of bumper mount auxiliary back up lights and power them by splicing it into the wiring harness of my 7 pin plug on the vehicle, using the yellow center wire, will the lights come on automatically when in reverse, or is there a relay that needs installed in my fuse panel?

Helpful Expert Reply:
As long at the center pin of the 7-Way connector on your tow vehicle receives power when you put the vehicle in reverse then auxiliary backup lights will light up automatically when you put the vehicle in reverse.
I do recommend installing diodes like part # RM-690 just to ensure that any issues that may arise with the auxiliary lights doesn't backfeed into your vehicle wiring.
