Tire Chains for a 2014 Forester with 225/60-17 Tires and a 2015 Impreza with 205/55-16 Tires
Question:
Hi, I am looking for chains for my 2014 Subaru Forester 225/60/17 for mountain pass requirements this winter. I also am looking for chains for my 2015 Subaru Impreza 205/55/16 as well. Both of these car manuals state that snow chains cannot be used since the clearance is too low. Will this model chain work for either car? What other chains or cable models will work? Im trying to avoid buying snow socks since they are so expensive. Thank you

For your 2014 Subaru Forester with 225/60-17 tires you will need to use the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains part # TC1038 and for your 2015 Subaru Impreza with 205/55-16 tires you will need to use the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains part # TC1034. The Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains part # TC1038 will not fit both tire sizes. These will be your most cost effective options.
In regards to compliance with the owner's manual, the cables are both class s compliant which means they are designed for vehicles with limited wheel well clearance like your Forester and Impreza. We have installed cables like these on both of the above vehicles with similar sized tires and did not have any issues however, since the owner's manual says not to use chains, I cannot recommend it. With that being said you really don't have a choice in certain situations like mountain passes.
Please keep in mind that in order to keep the cables securely on the tires you will want to use the Glacier Multi-Arm Rubber Adjusters part # PW105 but you only need one pair as they will fit both sizes. I have attached a sample install videos of the cables for you.
