Comparing Curt Spectrum and Redarc Tow-Pro Brake Controller for 2018 Toyota Tundra
Question:
Hi. So I am in the market for a new trailer brake controller for my new 18 Tundra. Have it down to the Curt Spectrum and the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite. I like the design on both just trying to pick one over the other at this point. Which do you recommend?

Both the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR and the Curt Spectrum # C51170 Trailer Brake Controller offer a sleek OEM design that gets away from the traditional knee knocker mounted options that take up a lot of space in the cab. Between these two brake controllers though I do recommend going with the Redarc # RED44FR for a couple of reasons.
The first reason is an aesthetic one. One of the main benefits of both controllers is the subtle design that tries to blend in with the interior of your cab. Along the lines of this particular feature the Redarc is the better option because the controller knob is quite a bit smaller than the Curt Spectrum and overall just has a better looking design in my opinion. I have attached an image of each just so you can better see the comparison.
The other feature I really like on the Redarc is its ability to function as either a proportional controller or a user-controlled unit that works better for off-road applications. This option gives you full control over the unit and adds versatility to the Redarc to ensure a comfortable ride regardless of your application.
If you decide to go with the Redarc you will just need the Wiring Adapter # 3031-S to install it in your 2018 Toyota Tundra. If you do go with the Spectrum you will need the Plug-In Adapter # C51455 instead.
