Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 1992 Chevy C/K Series 1500 Pickup Truck
Question:
I would like to pull a trailer with 4 way connector but my 1992 chevy 1500 truck does have trailer connector. There is 4-way connector behind the bumper from the fron connecting to rear light only.

It sounds like you have wiring that is connected to a third brake light like on a camper shell. What you will need to add a 4-Way flat trailer wiring connector to your 1992 Chevy C/K 1500 is the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118315. This harness just plugs in line with the tail light wiring on the truck, on the driver side rear frame rail near the bumper. I have included a link to the installation details for you.
The wiring for a third brake light uses a dedicated brake light circuit that is not used by the 4-Way trailer connector.
