Weight Distribution Hitch Recommendation for Trailer with 300 lb Tongue Weight

Question:

Im getting my first travel trailer. The dealer recommends the Husky TS WDH. They plan to put on the version with the 8000-12000 range. My tongue weight is about 300 pounds. Will that still be okay?

A weight distribution system with a tongue weight range of 800-1,200 lbs (I am assuming that's what you meant) is going to be very harsh on a trailer that only has 300 lbs of tongue weight. You will need a much lighter rated system. Ideally you get a system where your tongue weight falls right into the middle of the systems tongue weight range and you'll get the best overall towing experience. The Reese weight distribution system part # RP65509 would be a great option as it has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lb and has spring bars that are made for spring steel which gives you the support you need without being as harsh.
