Loose Splash Guard on 2010 Nissan Xterra After Roadmaster Base Plate Kit Install
Question:
Hi, I have a question about reassembly on my 2010 Nissan Xterra Off-Road. After tightening all the bolts the instructions state that I should Reinstall the fascia and splash guard, reversing steps 1 through 8.inch Step 8 was to remove bolts attaching the splash guard to the bumper, however I cannot do that due to the bumper core being removed and will not be replaced, according to step 9. The splash guard feels pretty loose down there like it should be attached to something, but theres nothing there I can screw into. Im thinking I might see if I can use a couple long zip ties to tie it to the main receiver brace. Do you guys have any advice here? Thanks,

I spoke with Roadmaster about the issue you are having with the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit part # 354-3 on your 2010 Nissan Xterra. They concluded with your mention of using zip ties to secure the splash guard to the receiver tube on the base plate kit. They admitted that the design is not the best due to the lack of a tie down point for the splash guard but have had customers in the past with success in using the receiver tube on the base plate kit. A few long zip/cable ties should do the trick of putting more support back into the splash guard.
