Question:

I have one tomahawk already and am planning on getting another.. but before I do I want to know about mounting the tray on the passenger side of the car. Can I just mount the bike rack backwards so that the locking mechanism is on the outside of the car and the front wheel towards the trunk? Is there a way to turn the locking mechanism around so the bike is facing forward but the lock is on the right side of the tray?

The RockyMounts TomaHawk Roof Bike Rack for Fat Bikes - Wheel Mount - Clamp On - Aluminum # RKY1222 will absolutely fit the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Blade Crossbars like # RRVA118B-2 that are 3-1/8" wide x 1-3/16" tall. I do recommend using the lock cores # RKY0332 to secure your bike to the carrier and your carrier to the crossbars.

The RockyMounts TomaHawk # RKY1222 will allow the locking wheel mechanism to be on either side of the tray so you can have the ease of mounting your bike on either the driver or passenger side of your vehicle. There are 4 screws at assembly that allow you to simply change the side of the ratcheting arm. It was designed for this purpose. You won't need to load the bike backwards on your rack as this is a much safer and easier to use option. You can see this application in the attached video.
