Trailer Spare Tire Carrier Recommendation for Aluminum Side Wall on Utility Trailer

Question:

I have an Aluma Utility Trailer Model #6310H complete with side walls. The side walls are 3/4 inch aluminum panels. I want to install a spare tire carrier on the side wall to mount a 205/75 R14, 5 bolt spare tire. I am concerned with the tire carriers that I see online as to the backing attachment on the inside of the trailer wall....I am concerned that the strut type frames will allow the wall to deform when tightened. I would like to get a mount that has a solid inside wall frame to provide support. I could just purchase a carrier and buy a back plate? Any ideas for an assembly...?

For your Aluma Utility trailer with aluminum side walls, I recommend the Fulton Hi-Mount Spare Tire Carrier # FSTC1000301. This spare tire carrier is zinc plated so it won't have galvanic corrosion issues with your aluminum side wall and it has two plates to hold the back side of the carrier and disperse that pressure. Aluminum is a softer metal, so you will want to be careful when tightening to make it snug and yet not over-tighten and deform the side wall. If you want to make sure the bolts don't loosen, you can add a lock washer or some threadlocker like # LT37420 to assist.
