Can Weight Distribution System be Used on Jeep Cherokee with GC Air Suspension System
Question:
I read conflicting opinions about how well a WDH works with the Jeep GC air suspension system, or whether a WDH should even be used. What is your opinion and what WDH systems would you recommend?

A weight distribution system like the Equal-i-zer # EQ37100ET can indeed be used on your Jeep Cherokee that features the air suspension auto-leveling system. What we recommend doing when installing the weight distribution system is first hooking your trailer up to the Jeep (with it fully loaded) and letting the Jeep level itself. Only after the leveling is complete will you want to set up and install the system.
The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution systems are a great choice and are often considered to be the best options on the market. I really like its integrated 4-Point Sway Control that greatly reduces any side-to-side movement on the trailer and its relatively simple installation process using the clamp-on (no-drill) brackets.
The important thing though is to make sure the particular system you choose has a tongue weight capacity range that matches up to your towing setup's total tongue weight. Your total tongue weight includes the loaded tongue weight of your trailer along with any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your Jeep. Ideally you want this number to fall somewhere near the middle of the tongue weight range on the weight distribution system.
The Equal-i-zer # EQ37100ET features a tongue weight capacity of 600 to 1,000 pounds. If your total tongue weight falls comfortably within this range this system will work perfectly. If not please let me know and I will be happy to make a different recommendation.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this system that you can also check out.
