How Far In Can the Spring Seats be Placed on a 3,500 Lb Straight Axle
Question:
have to move SC on a 72 inch axle 3500LB idler - and have to go narrower, and wondering if I can go down to 44 inch SC ?

The spring perches or seats on a 3,500 lb straight axle will need to be within 9" on center for the end of the hub face. Therefore, the spring perches would have a minimum placement of 54" apart on center. In order to receive a 3,500 lb weight rating with a 44" spring center measurement you would need to look at the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System part # A35RS545. The Timbren System will actually replace the leaf springs as well with a set of rubber Aeon springs which will do a greater job of absorbing road shock and supporting the trailer's load.
