Which 5th Airborne Replacement Pin Boxes Fit a Carriage Cameo with a Fabex 765 Pin Box

Question:

I found the correct pin box number for a Carriage Cameo 35 SB3 it is a Fabex 765. The question now is what 5th airborn sidewinder will fit it. I found another site listing a Fabex PB-765inch with a Reese number to fit. It also listed a Fabex PB-765 Carriageinch with no application or N/A. Are Carriage Fabex 765s different than others? Why would a manufacturer need to reinforce their frame to acomodate a 5th airborn sidewinder? Whould that hold true if just using a 5th airborn without the pivot?

A Fabex PB-765 pin box is a Fabex 765 pin box though it may go by a different part number depending on where you look or branded something different, it is still a Fabex 765 pin box.

The reason that some trailer frames have to be reinforced is because there is additional stresses associated with an extend pin box like a Sidewinder that the trailer frame was not designed to handle.

For safety and compatibility some frames have to be beefed up to handle the extra stress. A 5th Airborne by itself is just a replacement pin box so the frame should not have to be beefed up.

For a 5th Airborne and Sidewinder for the Fabex 765, you can use # RP61412.

If you just wanted a 5th Airborne and no Sidewinder, go with part # 5AB-E510-710. I have included a link to some installation instructions for you.

I recently purchased the goose box 20k for my 2009 cameo by carriage and tried to install but I find that 1/2 the holes dont line up the the hitch hook up to install the goose box ...Am i missing something? I even took the trailer to a local shop and the also had the same issue.

Goose Boxes are specific to the pin box model on a trailer. Make sure that the 20K Goose Box you purchased is compatible with the bolt pattern on the trailer's pin box brackets. If you can tell me what model pin box you're replacing I would be happy to verify a good fit or try and find an alternative if it's not.

@RonG Thanks so much for the info. Unfortunately there isn't a Goose Box designed to replace your MORryde SPB72-770 (which indicates a Fabex 770 bolt pattern), even with a spacer kit added. Your only option will be a alternate type of gooseneck adapter such as the Convert-A-Ball # CAB-C5G.
