Will Optronics Load Resistor for LED Lights Help Fix Problem with Tekonsha Brake Controller
Question:
I am considering replacing incandescent trailer stop/turn/run lights. With LED fixtures—- wondering if I need this to keep my Tekonsha controller working right. Do I need this ? - my 2008 VW Touareg has incandescent lights.

The Optronics Load Resistor for LED Lights # ALEDRST2B puts a heavier load on the trailer wiring so since your Tekonsha brake controller, like the P3 # 90195, only connects to the trailer via the brake controller output wire the LED lights won't be the cause of any problems with your brake controller.
The load resistors help to keep the lights on your tow vehicle or trailer from hyperflashing since LEDs have much less draw than incandescent lights. If you experience hyperflashing then this product will definitely help with that but if you are having issues with your brake controller just give me the details and I can help you run some troubleshooting.
