The Thule OutWay 2 trunk bike rack, # TH45JV, would make a great choice for your 2008 Mazda 3 hatchback.
I recently had the chance to install this rack on a vehicle and it is the easiest to install and remove trunk mount rack that I have used. For this reason, this is the rack I personally would choose for a trunk mount rack.
You may also need a bike adapter bar, # TH982XT, if you will be carrying women's or children's style bikes with no horizontal top bar for attaching to the bike rack arms.
