Furnace Operation on Atwood Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # AT15028-22
Question:
Hello, I installed one of these in part to avoid running my propane furnace. Even with the furnace not selected it sometimes comes on. Sometimes the heat in the AC heat pump works and sometimes the furnace fires right up even though it is not selected. I reviewed the instructions and still don’t know why this happens. Can you help me understand/fix this? I used the provided wiring and thermostat. Thank you

The operation you described of the heat pump and furnace with your newly installed Atwood Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # AT15028-22 is actually by design. I spoke with my contact at Dometic Atwood and he said that this unit will automatically switch to the furnace when it's too cold for the heat pump (around 48 degrees and below).
My contact did say that there should be a jumper at S2 on the board that turns off this automatic furnace function.
