Question:

Do white and brown wires have to be connected to the body of the car , or just together? Thank you.

It sounds like you are referring to the factory brake controller wiring on your 2012 Tundra and connecting it to the wires on the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED44FR. If this is not the case or you have a different model truck please just let me know.

If you are hardwiring the Redarc Controller to the factory wires the brown wire from your truck is the ground wire, but it should already be grounded via the negative post on the battery. This means that you will simply connect it right to the white wire coming from the brake controller. This will complete the ground circuit.

The rest of the connections to the wiring on the 2012 Toyota Tundra are as follows:

Black with red goes to the brake controller black wire for 12 volt power
Green with white goes to the controller red wire for input from the brake switch
Red goes to the controller blue wire for output to the trailer brakes
The solid green wire is not used by the Tow Pro Elite brake controller
