Where is the Hole for a Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Drilled Out on a 1998 Dodge Ram 3500 Long Bed

I have a 1998 dodge 3500 with a 8ft bed and I want to put a gooseneck in , my question is how do you know where exactly to put the ball?

Depending on the type of gooseneck hitch you go with, the installation kit instructions will tell you exactly where the hole will need to be drilled for the ball. For the Hide-A-Goose, # 9460-39, you will mark and drill a 1/4 inch hole 45-1/2 inches from the rear of the bed and centered between the wheel wells for an 8 foot bed.

This hole will be a pilot for a 3-1/2 inch hole saw. I have included a link to the installation details for both the hitch and the installation kit for you.
