Rear Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 1981 GMC RV G3500

Question:

Say guys, Im looking at the solo square yellow help springs for my 1981 RV. its a GMC G35, 1 ton dully. picture attached. Ive also attached a picture of what is under the rear now. its not much for the vehicle weight. Im thinking the RV was made from a 1 ton Van frame and they did not take into account all the weight. Im getting a LOT if sway when driving. I think the solo springs would make a world of difference but I also know I will have to make a custom bracket to hold the top of the spring. the bottom will ride on the rear axle. I have all the measurements from the top of the axle to frame and the old bracket. My question it the size height and width of the solo spring itself to make sure I can fit it in ? another question I have is, how much should the spring be compressed just sitting at rest? or should there be a gap between the spring bottom and top of the axle? hope this is clear. please let me know if you have a questions. thanks

Since we know your 1981 GMC Van is a G3500 we know the Timbren kit part # TGMRG35 is a confirmed fit that won't require any measuring or fabrication to install. The kit will fit as-is and works very similarly to how the SumoSprings kit works so you'd get the same amount of support.
