Weight Distribution Recommendation for Laredo 335MK Travel Trailer
Question:
Hello, Looking to buy Laredo 335MK 38foot Travel Trailer. Hitch weight is 1,185#. Dry weight 8,520# I have a 2015 Crew Cab Duramax Diesel short box. Would like to add at least a 20 safety factor for the extra weight of tanks, batteries and stuff in the back of my truck. My estimation is a WD Class V hitch rated for 1,400-1,500#. Also, a big concern is to have a receiver style that keeps the hitch ball as close to my tow vehicle bumper as possible. The overhung load increases as the hitch ball moves away from the bumper receiver tube. Please send me your recommendations. Thanks !

If you think your tongue weight is going to be between 1,400 and 1,500 lb the Strait Line system part # RP66075 would work great as it has a tongue weight range of 1,000 to 1,700 lbs. You'll need a shank to go along with this too as part # RP54976. Then for a hitch ball you'd want the # 19286.
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
