Recommended Charge Line For Jeep Battery Using Brake Buddy Supplemental Braking System to Flat Tow

Question:

I am trying to prevent draw on the battery of my jeep wrangler while towing behind my RV. I have researched using a Brake Buddy Towed Vehicle Charger, but this only generates 15 Amps, the same amount as the power requirements of the system. My question, is on a the 7-pin, there is a charge line, and an auxiliary line, can I run the brake buddy off of a connection to the auxiliary line, while still running a battery charge to the charge line? This would ensure the battery assist has the required power, while also preventing my jeeps battery dying. Thanks in advance.

For your Brake Buddy, the power should come from your vehicle battery to prevent a loss of power to your braking system. However, if you utilize the 12V power at your 7-way and use the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25 you will prevent any issue with your vehicle battery. The charge line will send a maintenance charge to your Jeep Battery while you are towing (averaging 2-4 amps at 12V because it is what is generated by your alternator beyond the power used by your motorhome) but this is a constant charge.

Your Brake Buddy will draw a very small constant power, but will draw more as it needs it for braking. This combination ensures your supplemental braking system gets the power needed to function properly and the charge line will replenish any battery power used so you will have a battery that is charged when you are ready to drive the Jeep.

I've attached videos of this installation to assist.
