Can Trailer Shocks Be Used After Installing Dexter Over-Under Conversion Kit
Question:
Hello, I am looking at this kit for my 5th wheel camper and the only question I think I have is my trailer currently has shocks on the spring mounts. Will I be able to use the shocks in some way or will I need to make an attachment point myself? I have attached the current spring photo. Thanks for your help.

Looking at the picture you attached of your trailer hooked up you will definitely benefit from using the Dexter Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-385-00 that you referenced. This will move the leaf springs to the top of the axle, raising the trailer by the axle diameter and leaf spring stack height.
You may be able to still use your existing shocks depending on how you currently have them attached. For some reason the picture you mentioned of your current leaf springs did not come through. Please feel free to email it to me directly and I will be happy to take a look. In the meantime I have attached a picture that shows how a shock kit would typically install on a trailer that has the leaf springs above the axle. You might need to relocate it or replace it with a shorter shock for it to work properly.
